A restaurant is one of the traditional places to have a date. If you don't enjoy the company of your date at least you may enjoy your food and go home feeling happy and satisfied. There are so many different types of dating experiences to be had depending on where you go with your date and what meal you choose to meet for.
Whatever you choose, it's probably a good idea to go somewhere where both people are likely to find things that they'll enjoy and will not be surprised by the prices. Always check to see if your dating partner has any special needs or restrictions so as not to have to walk out after meeting and trying to find a different place for your date or make someone feel uncomfortable.
We'd love to hear and about your favorite places, whether it's a restaurant, a caf%u05D9 or whatever, wherever you live or have visited so write and let us know.

Schwartz's Deli
Home of the famous Montreal smoked meat sandwich. The oldest Deli in Canada, this restaurant is an institution. Not expensive and serving only authentic deli food, nothing fancy. Everything is great but don't bring your date here if s/he is health weary. This is not a romantic kind of place but it's great for very casual dating.

Restaurant La Chronique
All the food here is wonderful especially the duck dishes and the desserts. I had the foie gras which was delicious, so was the grilled red tuna served on lobster risotto. The service is great. This is a great place for dating if you have the cash.

Mother's Bistro and Bar
This restaurant specializes in comfort food and the setting is homey too. Prices aren't high but the food is good whatever meal you choose to enjoy here including breakfast. I had the macaroni and cheese and the strawberry rhubarb crisp and recommend them both.

Portland, OR 97204-3403
The Heathman
You'll get delicious food at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is posh if not a bit stuffy and there's live jazz every Tuesday night if you're into that. I had the plum-glazed rack of lamb with roasted fresh plums and lemon thyme juice and the bread pudding. Also great are the crab cakes. If you're planning to visit this restaurant, make a reservation.

Jasper White's Summer Shack
This is the place to eat lobster, fish and seafood. A casual restaurant with a huge lobster tank. The pan roasted lobster is legendary but you really can't go wrong with whatever you order. The prices are reasonable and reservations aren't taken, so beware.

Lai Wah Heen
The name means "elegant meeting place" and this amazing dim sum palace is all that and more. At lunch there's dim sum, at dinner there's delicious Cantonese cuisine. There are 40 kinds of dim sum and you must try out all of them (probably not all in one sitting). This place will definitely impress your dating partner if s/he is into dim sum.
